Meeting August 13, 2009 – General Discussion
Well first off as everyone can see our website is back up and running now. To quickly explain someone created a specific URL that when requested would allow a attacker to bypass the security check when a user uses a lost password reset. As a result this allowed a attacker to reset the admin password and have it emailed to them. Once in they had a little fun with our site.
Our education coordinator continued in his series on attendance and its effects on leads. He sited a few case studies done by the BNI. In one case study a grop with 14 members who was averaging 2.1 absentces per member and 188 referrals per year put their minds to it and got that average down to 1 absence per member over the next quarter and they showed a gain of 43% in their referral numbers. Another group with 11 members was averaging 2 absences per member and 122 referrals for the year, in dropping that down to 1 per member they got a 164% gain in referrals.
So what does this all mean, well; as the od saying says “Showing up is 90% of life.” Meaning by just working on your attendance any group can double their leads in six months.
SPEAKER
Russ our speaker today who unfortunately had a family emergancy was unable to attend a few of the members volunteered to offer some news and updates in their services. We heard from Kevin at Nortwestern Mutual who let everyone kow about the latest AAA rating that his company has received. Bill from Computer Troubleshooters chimed in with information on some new viruses and some easy things to do to stay away from them. this came about from myself explaining in more detail the reasons why our site had been hacked so to speak and what I done to fix the issue.
All in all a great meeting today w ith a few vistors as well, whom we all enjoyed meeting and look forward to seeing again in the near future.
